Folsom

My mother just wrote me, passionately appreciative to know that I decided to skip the Folsom St. Fair this year. It was the heat. She was afraid to tell me how worried she was about me when she felt how hot the day was getting. She has an air conditioner–which is rare in a city like San Francisco–but even that wasn’t enough to counter the force of the sun this weekend. I would have let her know sooner if I had realized she was worried.

(Of course, I should just make that my default assumption.)
